The Chapterwide Philanthropy Project is a truly unique and meaningful annual event within our Glendale Chapter. Not only are mothers and daughters working together but it is one of the few occasions (in addition to our rummage sale) when Ticktockers of all grade levels come together to work with one another. While each grade level has a specific philanthropy that they support during the year, the Chapterwide Project unites all the girls efforts in a common cause. Past projects have included:
• working to end domestic violence
• community graffiti clean-up
• the race for a cure for breast cancer
• the gardening beautification of Twelve Oaks Lodge
• the holiday party for the children and families served
by various programs of the Glendale YWCA
• the "Knots for Tots" project where the Ticktockers made
"no-sew" blankets for NICU units of local hospitals
• "From the Heart" - blood drive held at Verdugo Hills Hospital
to benefit the American Red Cross blood supply
The Chapterwide Project is organized and implemented through the efforts of the 10th Grade Ticktocker class. The girls are actively involved in the decision making process from the choice of their project to staffing and budgetary concerns thereby gaining valuable leadership skills amongst their peers as well as interaction with philanthropic personnel.
The 10th grade class and the Glendale Chapter particpated in the 2008 Chapterwide Project:
Childrens Hospital Los Angeles' (CHLA) 17th annual
"CELEBRATE LIFE WITH HOPE"

This is an event for its cancer patients and their families and was
held on Sunday, June 1, 2008.
This event was a health and wellness fair with exhibits from
approximately 70 community agencies and was produced by
professional event planners on a pro bono basis.
CHLA was a glorious day that empowered participants and
celebrates life. |
